CALL FOR ILLUSTRATORS — Trans Children’s Literature

Are you an emerging illustrator looking for a place to showcase your work? Heartspark Press wants to hear from you. We are currently editing the world’s first chapter book for gender nonconforming kids that is exclusively written by trans women and AMAB non-binary artists. Our editors want to showcase a different illustrator with each story, and that means looking for a lot of talent. Does this sound like something you’d be excited about? Let’s talk.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION:
– Must have been (coercively) assigned male at birth and identify as either trans or non-binary. This is non-negotiable.
– We really want to center our community’s illustrators of color, so please white folks step aside submitting for now.
– Please share with us a sample or three of your B&W / greyscale linework. (This project is going to be greyscale.)

We will be paying our artists and will negotiate with individual artists, but keep in mind we are a small press with a limited budget. No previous publishing experience required (in fact, we prefer it).
